ASIN - An Amazon Standard Identification Number (ASIN) is a 10-character alphanumeric unique identifier assigned by Amazon for product identification within the Amazon platform.

 

 

Barcode (Only from GS1) - Barcodes should only be bought from GS1. A GS1 Company Prefix is a unique identification number that GS1 US® issues just to your company and it's part of every barcode, Universal Product Code (U.P.C.), and identification number (GTIN®) you create. It's the internationally accepted way to uniquely identify your brand in the global supply chain.

BSR or Best Sellers Rank - a score which Amazon assigns to the majority of Products based on the sales volume and historical sales data.

 

 

Carton Dimension versus Product Dimension - First of all it is important to note the difference between Product Dimensions and Carton Dimensions.
Product Dimensions relate to 1 unit of an item/product in other words the item/product that a customer receives. i.e 1 Sale.

Carton Dimensions relate to the overall dimensions of a box in which these items/products travel from your supplier onto a boat/plane, then through our hub, into stock and finally from our hub into Amazon.

Common Data - This refers to data that is common in your business such as companies, suppliers and products.

 

 

Company Registration Number - This is a unique number issued to you when your company is registered. This number is referred to differently depending on the country you are in:

  • US - EIN or Employer Identification Number

  • UK - CRN or Company Registration Number

  • AU - ABN or Australian Business Number

 

 

Cost Price - This is the FOB price per unit from your supplier.

Duty Rate - A duty rate is a tariff levied on imports, defined in terms of a specific amount per unit.

EIN Number - this stands for Employer Identification Number and is required for importing into the USA.

FNSKU - The FNSKU is an acronym for Fulfillment Network SKU or Fulfillment Network Stock Keeping Unit. The FNSKU is the way that Amazon identifies a product as unique to the seller that has sent it to the Amazon Fulfillment centre.

EXW or ExWorks - The Supplier makes the goods available at their warehouse for collection. No delivery or export import paperwork is included.

HS Code - also known as Harmonized, Commodity or Duty Code. A 10 digit number allocated to goods to classify imports. Every item will fall under this code and it code dictates your duty rating, as well as alerts you to any import or export restrictions. The codes vary between countries.

Inward FBA Order - This is where we inform Amazon about incoming stock to one of their fulfilment centres. We can’t ship to them without informing them first.

MAP - Market Analysis Process or MAPing the Market which is where we apply the principles to find Products to sell.

 

 

Marketplace - Amazon Marketplace is an e-commerce platform owned and operated by Amazon. The drop down list in the MPSH EcoSystem caters for United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Italy, Spain, Germany and Australia.

 

 

MOQ - Minimum order quantity i.e. the smallest order you can buy from your Supplier, which usually applies for your first trial order.

 

 

Packing List - This provides useful information about the cargo being transported, its quantity, weight, and destination. This list informs the cargo’s recipient, transporter and the government authority what type of goods the seller sent to the buyer.

POI - Profit on investment - a method used to express the profitability of a Product.

 

 

POR - Profit on return - a method used to express the profitability of a Product.

 

 

Product Category - This is the category you're going to list your product under on Amazon.

 

 

Roots Research System - structured research system based on the 4 parts of a plant.

 

 

Segue (pronounced segway) - the process of transitioning between different product searches on Amazon when trying to find that lucrative, boring product. Mentioned frequently in the product search videos.

 

 

Shipping Marks - identifiers on the outside of your carton.

SKU - Stock keeping unit which is a unique code, which you as a business owner create for each product. It is an internal code that we use to identify each product.

SRN - A Shipping Reference Number is an identifier that links your products to you during the shipping process. It is used to identify and track your shipments as they move through the manufacturing and shipping process.

 

 

Supplier - A supplier is a company, person or organisation providing services or products.
