How to manually find the HS Code

  1. Gather the details about your Product.

a. Find the category which best describes your item from the following list:

Agricultural

Chemical

Electrical

Mechanical

Machinery

Musical instruments

Metal

Furniture

Lighting

Paper

Printed matter

Straw

Glass

Wood

Jewellery

Textiles or ceramics

(including. food, drink, plastics, cosmetics, sports equipment, games, toys, clothing, shoes)

Miscellaneous

(including vehicles, optical and measuring devices)

b. What your product is made of (if more than one material, provide a breakdown of materials)

c. What is your product used for at the time of import?

d. How your product works or functions?

e. How is your product presented or packaged?

f. An HS code from your supplier?

g. Customs Agents do not think of goods as bonus or primary, so gather all the details of all goods

 

2. Using the details you gathered, select the HS code database for your country of import.

3. Then review headings first. You must first find the correct heading before finding the subheading.

4. Then review subheadings.

5. Add the code to your commercial invoice
